Scott Gene Boomer, age 50, of Hays, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at his home with his loved ones. He was born June 7, 1970, at Seneca, Kansas, to Warren Eugene and Connie V. (Nichols) Boomer. He married Ann Marie (Means) on May 6, 1995, at Jewell, Kansas.
He spent his lifetime in radio broadcasting in a variety of roles from program director to radio announcer. He worked 30 years at Eagle Communications and a few years at KHAZ. Scott, of “Mike and Boomer," was the morning show host on the “The Bull Country KKQY 101.9” FM Radio. Over the years in broadcasting, he received a number of awards. He grew up in Bern and Beloit, Kansas, and was a 1988 graduate of Beloit High School. He also received his bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University. Scott loved his work and being on the air. He had a deep passion for his family and friends, the community of Hays, and the people he reached out to in Hays, and the surrounding area.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Boomer, of the home; two sons, Tyler Boomer and Kaden Boomer, both of the home; his father and step-mother, Gene and Marsha Boomer, Heath, Texas; one sister, Jodi Foerschler and husband, Josh, Littleton, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Boomer; and his grandparents, Warren and Viola Boomer, and Claude and Frances Nichols.
A memorial is being established for his children's education fund.
