Celebration of Life for Hector Gaxiola Camacho
Thanks everyone for your kindness and generosity! The fundraiser is doing well, $3000 will cover all the funeral costs, and if we raise more than it will go towards remaining medical expenses. Kathy was left with thousands in medical bills so any relief we can give her would be much appreciated. Thank you all for the love and support during this incredibly hard time.
On Tuesday March 19th we lost our dad Hector Gaxiola Camacho to a long fight with cancer.
He was a great father to his three kids and a life long partner to his wife Kathy Flynn de Gaxiola.
Hector was born in Santa Rosa Sinaloa Mexico in 1950, and grew up in the market being a salesmen at his fathers store. He was involved in the Mexico City Riots in 1968 while he was a University student and barely survived. He met Kathy Flynn from Vashon Island in 1974, and two
months later they were married.
He has lived on Vashon ( and Mexico) ever since and having changed his interest from politics to plants, working at Bealls Green Houses selecting Orchids for Shipment in 1976. Hector has planted a lot of bamboo around Vashon and was a skilled horticulturalist that specialized in getting tropical plants to grow in the PNW climate. He loved Palm Trees, Eucalyptus and Cannabis. Later in life he concentrated on medicinal plants and contributed medicine for cancer patients on the island.
The last few years have been a major toll on expenses for our family with the cancer treatment and we are short on the funds we need for the funeral expenses. We need help covering the cost of the grave space at the Vashon Cemetery, and costs of having the gravesite service. We are reaching out to our community for help during this hard time.
