Celeste's fight against cancer!
Donation protected
As a parent our job is to always protect our children from harm. My children and my grandson are my world and those that know me know that I will FIGHT for them. Of course, there are some battles I can’t fight on my own. Which brings me to this…and this is a difficult thing for me to write.
Late last year, my daughter Celeste started having health problems and was misdiagnosed with PCOS. She kept going to the doctor because the treatment she was offered wasn’t helping, and her stomach began to grow. Her doctors at the time dismissed her concerns and chalked it all up to PCOS, but I insisted that she see someone different. By April she looked 6 months pregnant, and she was constantly asked “when are you due.” I kept telling her it wasn’t normal for her stomach to be so big, especially when she knew she wasn’t pregnant. She finally went to see the OBGYN that took care of her during her pregnancy and this doctor listened to her and was concerned with Celeste’s symptoms. She ordered an ultrasound immediately, and the ultrasound revealed a 24cm tumor. She was referred to an oncologist right away and was scheduled for surgery within a week. The surgery went well, and per the doctor it was “big one…the size of a soccer ball.” It was sent for a biopsy, and the results came back with abnormal findings. These results were sent to John Hopkins for a second opinion, and she also had a PET scan which came back normal. The second pathology report confirmed what the first report stated: Stage 1 Ovarian Cancer.
Celeste will begin her chemotherapy treatment on June 12th. If everything goes well, she will be done mid-August but might have treatments through the end of August. She will need to take a few months off work which will have a financial impact on her and her family. Yes, she has health insurance, but it does not cover everything. Which brings me to this platform and this request.
We are doing everything that we can to help Celeste, Jacob and Eli, but let’s be real, EVERYTHING is expensive (gas…groceries…childcare...etc.). Any amount you share will make an impact in a good way. Besides the financial support, please feel free to send kind words her way. It will help Celeste feel better knowing that people have her in their thoughts and prayers during this time.
As a mom this is really hard for me and I am doing what I can to care for and protect her. I read this somewhere and I felt the need to share it: “No matter what type of cancer you have and no matter the stage, it’s a life-altering diagnosis – even if it’s not immediately life threatening.”
Cancer is cancer, and my kind, funny, social butterfly daughter will be fighting her biggest fight.
All funds collected will be going directly to her.
She also has Zelle and Venmo:
