Hello everyone! I'm Celia, Australia's -50kg Karate athlete, thrilled to share my extraordinary journey. I'm honored to have secured the opportunity to compete in the upcoming World Karate Championships in Budapest, Hungary this October. This competition is the pinnacle event of karate.
My Karate journey began at the tender age of 8, and by 13, I was representing Victoria on the national stage. Last year, at the age of 20, I proudly joined the Australian National team, and this year's triumphant victories in the Australian Open, Oceania Karate Championships, and Australian National Championships secured my spot at the World Championships.
Beyond Karate, I'm pursuing a Business degree at RMIT University while working part-time at Telstra. Both my college and company have been incredibly supportive, granting me leave for competitions and training camps.
Being a Karate athlete in Australia comes with self-funding responsibilities, covering flights, accommodation, and tournament fees. Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to me.
None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of my loving family, friends, and my partner. Special thanks to Sensei Nghia Tran, my kumite coach sensei Morgan, and training partners, as well as Professor Dawson for crafting my strength and conditioning programs, and Nick Ch for generously sponsoring my equipment. To everyone who's been by my side, I'm deeply grateful for your role in making this dream a reality.
