Fundraiser for Cara Girls Rescue Centre
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Celine. In May 2023, I am travelling to Kenya to volunteer at Cara Girls Rescue Centre.
Cara Girls Rescue Centre (CGRC) is an Irish-founded non-profit charity that works in Ngong, Nairobi, Kenya. CGRC strives to promote Women’s Empowerment through vocational training, health promotion, education, gender equality, economic empowerment and sustainable development. The Rescue Centre acts as a refuge for girls rescued from a variety of reasons involving physical, and sexual abuse, neglect, abandonment or potential child marriage.
CARA are provided with a full case history for every girl that arrives in their care, their circumstances and their family environment. This allows CARA to prepare an individual plan of assessment, counselling, care, education and rehabilitation specific to each individual. The work CARA do involving the older ‘rescued’ girls, looks at positively engaging with girls from the local Massai community and other surrounding communities – who are all particularly vulnerable to being victims of early child marriage, female genital mutilation, abuse, HIV, poor female hygiene and sanitation awareness issues.
Cara Projects’ mission is to actively involve people in learning about and tackling social, political, environmental and economic challenges through an education process in local and global communities.
CARA are funded by volunteer money and receives NO financial support from any external body. All funds I raise are going to Cara projects to fund the building of orphanages, rescue centres, educational facilities and homes for communities in Kenya.
Thank you!!
