Central Park Bench in Honor of Brianna Herrera
Donation protected
Wow, thank you everyone for your generosity. We can't tell you how much we appreciate it. I'll make sure to update everyone with the location of the bench after all the paperwork has been finalized. Our contact at Central Park estimates the plaque will take 6-8 weeks to be created and installed. All extra donations will be used towards remaining student loans. We love you all and are so thankful that she had so many people who cared about her ❤
On Thursday night, January 24, 2019, while on her way home from Syracuse University, Brianna Herrera was involved in a fatal bus accident. Although the circumstances and time of her passing feel uncontrollably unfair, Brianna’s family and friends would like to celebrate her life with a Central Park bench in her name. This bench allows friends, family, and even strangers to be surrounded by her infectiously comforting presence.
It’s impossible to put Brianna (known by most as Bri) into words. This girl was fiercely loyal, unabashedly honest, and most importantly, incredibly kind. Between standing up for the underrepresented to her love for animals (mostly Milly and Kala), she was constantly caring for everyone and everything around her. This love she put out into the universe has been returned tenfold. The candlelight vigil organized by Sigma Delta Tau on the Syracuse Campus had thousands of attendees, and it feels like equal amounts of people have reached out to express their grief.
It’s safe to say she made an impact on almost every single person she met in her short time on earth. We’re not sure how to move on from this tragedy, but we do know Bri will be around for a long time, keeping a close eye on all of her loved ones.
