About Centro Cultural de la Raza
In 1970, in conjunction with the victory of Chicano Park, artists and community members fought to establish a cultural center within Balboa Park at a time when such opportunities were lacking. From those efforts Centro Cultural de la Raza was born: a space run by and for the community.

Level 2 Rewards

The Centro is a cultural destination in San Diego’s Balboa Park that has consistently transformed itself to serve as an accessible place for bomba, danza azteca, sacred prayer, selling artisan goods, tango, zapateado, muralism, celebrating our queer and trans people of color, community organizing, teaching, international solidarity, humanitarian aid to refugees, theater, music and for film.
