Centro Cultural de la Raza 50th Anniversary

Donation protected

July 10th, 2021, marks the 50th Anniversary Virtual Kickoff Celebration and fundraising campaign.

The theme for the year-long series of events is; "Sigue el florecimiento de nuestro movimiento".

We are excited to highlight the history and current activity through performances and interviews at the kickoff event and subsequent events. The virtual gala will officially begin a fundraising campaign to support Centro and its community projects.

In particular, we are trying to go into our next 50 years with renewing efforts to build a community archival project to properly document and make accessible the over 50 years of Chicano/a movement and arts history to our broader community. Currently, we have dozens of boxes of footage from the late 1960s through 2000 that is in need of digitizing. Centro's own private collection also consists of thousands of pieces of art, prints, photos, as well as original vestuarios of the Ballet Folklorico en Aztlán, all of which need special facilities for proper storage that will help preserve our history for decades to come.

In addition to archiving support, this fundraising campaign seeks to build the resources to strengthen our programming, including our in-house silkscreen shop, our artist in residence space, our community garden and most recently our children's library space, Bibliotequita Colibri.

Lastly, funds raised will also go to a much needed restoration of our outdoor murals, starting with the wraparound Quetzalcoatl facade atop our walls that is in need of much needed love and attention.

Please help support Centro Cultural de la Raza so that we may be able to more adequately support the arts and culture for all of our communities!!
