That infamous title helped the outside world see how sweet & special Toby is. It also cemented his fate to be officially adopted by us, his former foster family.
As his dog mama, I feel I can be truthful in saying that it's been a trying time for us with Toby. Not only was the move & relearning the dynamic of the pack a difficult one, but Toby ended up needing 2 major life saving surgeries. On top of that he was tested for cancer based off of his recent symptoms. The doctor thinks we may be ahead of it since his lab results came back negative. So we are due to test again & reevaluate pretty soon. Yet, it could also be something else if he tests negative again. Which means more tests aka more bills
With that said, we got pet insurance as soon as possible. However, we still will owe just a little more than $5,000.00. That's on top of the $4,00.00 we've already paid in medical expenses this year alone.
We are blessed to be a dual income family. However, paying off this unexpected debt & knowing there will possibly be more medical expenses for him alone has made it a but difficult to keep up with.
We are an active duty military family and we now have the extra tax burden to try to save up for since Sept-Dec 2020 will be tax free payments. Yet, we will owe back all the extra money that was received. Which means we will owe a lump sum of $800 at minimum. Meanwhile, life goes on. Like everyone, we have many other expenses to juggle & all that we raise would go straight to paying off the care credit card we used for Toby's surgeries & medical expenses.
Just his surgeries collectively were $10,000.00
Insurance paid $4,500.00
We had many inquiries asking how they could donate to Toby's medical bill after his second surgery. We asked his vet & they suggested putting together a GoFundMe. We understand not everyone will be able to donate & that's okay especially during times like these. Whether you share this link, donate, or do both just know we sincerely appreciate your support. Toby has found his forever family & we will continue to do what we need to in order to make sure he's always getting the proper care he needs.
I huge thank you to all of his followers. Toby's life was saved almost 4 years ago thanks to his incredible rescue at Purple Power Animal Welfare Society in Manhattan, KS. Then again just a year ago when all of you helped share his story. He is a survivor who has made it through every obstacle that's come his way. By seeing that, it gives us even more motivation to keep finding ways to always push forward.
