Ceremonial Community Kitchen Rebuild
Donation protected
Dear Extended Family,
For the past three years, we have proudly supported the George Family Sundance Kitchen at Bob's Family Ceremonial Grounds. Every year, over 300 community members come together to heal and witness Sundance. Nourishing everyone with ancestral and traditional foods is an essential part of this ceremony. However, our little beloved kitchen urgently needs upgrades and repairs to continue serving our community safely, especially during the hot summer months.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Right now, ensuring the safety of our community and kitchen crew during ceremonies is becoming increasingly challenging given the current kitchen infrastructure. The Bob family has entrusted us to collect funds to make the much needed kitchen repairs that will benefit not only the George Family Sundance, but multiple ceremonies throughout the year.
IMPACT ON THE COMMUNITY
These ceremonies serve approximately 2000 people annually, especially Indigenous peoples, on their healing journey through ceremony and prayer. It is essential that we pull together as a community to ensure we can continue to nurture ourselves during these sacred times of the year. This fundraiser is not only for those who participate in the George Family Sundance but for any ceremonies held on these sacred grounds. This kitchen will nurture and take care of all those who come here annually.
THE DREAM
Our long-term goal is to build a completely new kitchen and renovate the existing one, creating a lasting space for future generations of Sundances and ceremonies. This ambitious plan will take 2 to 3 years and a significant amount of funding, but we believe in the power of community to make it happen!
IMMEDIATE GOAL: SHORT-TERM NECESSITIES.
To start, we aim to raise $20,000 for immediate upgrades to ensure food safety for this year’s Sundance. These funds will be used to install a new power line, enabling us to have two freezers, two fridges, and essential kitchen appliances.
JOIN US!
The road ahead is long but we trust in the power of community to make this happen. We all know how much these ceremonial grounds give each one of us - now is our time to give back.
Help us make this dream kitchen a reality!
All our relations,
Thank you.
