Ceremony for Nashoba
Donation protected
While he was embodied, our beloved relative Nashoba Tohbi planted an abundance of blooming seeds for future generations with the work and prayer he was committed to. He is so deeply adored, and so missed– rough, meticulous, heartfelt, and selfless– a warrior who operated both in the physical and beyond the veil to preserve teachings, dismantle institutions, build futures, protect unci maka, children, and two-spirit kin. All who love him know that as an ancestor, he continues the work he dedicated his life to. We have been working with him through ceremony to ensure his safety as he walks to where he needs to go beyond this world. The end of July will mark one year since his death, and the completion of this ceremony. He is so missed by so many all throughout this land and it is very important that as many of his relatives as possible be present. So we are in need of funds for the following:
Gas money for everyone from up north and out west to get to Louisiana and back.
Food to feed everyone for four days of inipi, plus to cook a feast for public facing day .
Lodging for out of town relatives for the duration of their stay.
To purchase construction supplies necessary to make the land accessible for elders and relatives with disabilities.
Gas money for the trip across the country to release his ashes in oceti sakowin, where his soul still lives.
For those in the new orleans area, non monetary donations of gifts for the giveaway, camping gear, and medicines such as sage, tobacco, sweet grass, cedar, mint, juniper, and bear root would also be very helpful.
