César Cervantes Recovery From Severe Stroke
Donation protected
UPDATE: First and foremost, a humble thank you to everyone who has shared this post far & wide and for those who donated. Since this was originally shared weeks ago, César has entered into acute rehabilitation where he has made tremendous strides. On a daily basis, he is receiving therapy that continues to help him recover. Unfortunately, his wife & children had to move abruptly as it became apparent that the home they were living in had no longer been safe for them. They now find themselves in need of housing and legal services. If you are able to share this, please do so. If it is within your capacity to give monetarily, it would be deeply appreciated. The family and community are so grateful for all the love and support.
On May 1st, after spending the day celebrating his youngest son’s 2nd birthday, husband and father of two, César Cervantes-Guevara, suffered a severe stroke that came as a shock to everyone who loves him. The days following have been hard on his body, including being dependent on a ventilator for support. He and his loved ones are taking this day-by-day, practicing patience and understanding that his road to recovery will be a long and hard one.
Currently, César’s medical team stays cautiously optimistic about his recuperation; the severity of the stroke has made for a long and challenging road to recovery.
We ask for any financial support as Cesar’s road to recovery will likely be months or maybe a year, and to also support his family and wife, as she will undertake a massive new role in their lives, as well as raising their two little ones.
Family and community are two of César’s most deeply held values. He is a devoted father and husband, and also dedicated years of his life advocating for the wellbeing of his local community in Oxnard, CA through collective actions fighting for police accountability and migrant rights. His family is grateful for any support you may be able to offer as a form of community care– monetary donations, sharing this fundraiser, and prayers for a full and speedy recovery.
