Please help me save my family in GAZA
Hello everyone, my name is Yousef ALKhayyat and I am 24 years old. I am Palestinian from Gaza and now living and studying Electrical Engineering in Germany specifically at Leibniz University Hannover.
I'm fundraising to save my family in Gaza. My family is in danger. They are alone, hungry, displaced, and suffering. If the bombs don’t kill them then the famine will. I am unable to help them alone and I desperately need your help.
My family is still in Gaza , and they are experiencing unimaginable suffering :
-My father (Raafat) : 52-years-old , he is suffering from a Spinal disease and tumor, he was injured during a bombing during the war, his hand was burned and he had deeb injuries on his hed.
-My mother ( Nesreen) : 53-yers-old.
-My sister Shahd : 26 -yers-old a young dentist, she lost her work and her certificates.
-My sister Saja : 22-years-old , she studies Business Management, she was in the graduation year , she now can’t complete her study.
-My sister Sama : She is in the first year of studing Computer Engineering, now also she can’t complete her study .
My father suffers from a spinal disease with an increase in platelets ( thrombocytosis) , which causes clots in the arteries and frequent heart attacks, and he must take lifelong treatment (Hydroxyurea).
Unfortunately, this treatment is not available in Gaza due to the war! , and stop taking it may cause angina pectoris or Leukemia (cancer of the white blood cells).
My Palestinian friend living with me in Germany has lost his entire family. He is broken and grieving. I cry at the thought of my family facing the same bleak fate.
We are humans and we too deserve life. Because we, Palestinians, are people too, we are not just numbers. Please help me get my family to safety. Whatever you can give can help and we are grateful for your support.
I am terrified of losing them all in an instant as has happened to so many other families. That friend I mentioned from Gaza, who also lives in Germany , recently lost his entire family – every one of them.
Our story and why is it important:
I have already lost many family members. A bomb wiped out my uncle and his whole family. his daughter Heba and her children Omar, Janan and Banan, his son Basil (engineer), his wife and his two daughters Eileen and Celine.
His son, Doctor Tamer, his wife, Doctor Razan, and their children .They have been reduced to names on lists. Only two girls remained from this family, who became orphans now .
My father, mother and sisters are all I have left , and I don't want to lose them too.
Our former home in gaza was destroyed after our residential building was completely bombed. My family has found refuge in Rafah city , but the conditions there are extremely unsafe and precarious.
They are in a terrible state…If they survive the bombs, they are certain to perish like many others of thirst, hunger, and disease. There is scarce food and drinking water. Decomposing corpses under the rubble are spreading disease.
On October 22, 2023, the area where my family had fled to was once again targeted by bombings. The house they had taken shelter in, along with the surrounding buildings, was bombed. Fortunately, my family survived, but my father sustained injuries.
My family is mostly women and children. All their houses, and entire neighborhoods, have been obliterated. They are now living in rain-flooded tents with no electricity or facilities.
The daily challenges are overwhelming. Drinking water is scarce and often contaminated, posing serious health risks. The lack of clean water is just one of many problems. Additionally, there are weeks-long power outages and a lack of internet access, making it impossible to contact the outside world.
I have lived for several weeks without knowing whether something happened to my family or if they are even still alive. Hunger is a constant companion, and there is no other place they could go to find safety.
I applied for a humanitarian visa for them in Germany but unfortunately, it was refused. I am now trying to raise funds for border passes into Egypt.
Gaza was declared unlivable some time ago. ‘Unlivable’ falls short of describing the situation there. Gaza is deadly.
I have lived through wars in Gaza since I was 8 years old, but previous wars pale in comparison to this one. Nothing has been left intact. Mothers are being shot in front of their children, and children murdered as their mothers helplessly watch.
We urgently need 50,000 Euros to be able to evacuate my family from Gaza and escape this hopeless situation. This war has taken everything from us: our home, our savings, our hope, and our dignity. In these desperate times, I ask everyone who can help to open their hearts. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a tremendous difference in the life of my family.
Please help us find a way out of Gaza and reach a safe place. Your donation is not just financial support, but an act of humanity that gives us hope in these darkest hours. Thank you for your empathy and willingness to help.
How is your support going to be used?
The support will be used to pay for special permits on the Egyptian borders.
Unfortunately, the cost for that rises by the hour and shifts, starting at 6000 USD per person and ending up at 11,000 USD per person. For now, we know that the total cost per person is around 8000 USD just to pass from Gaza to Egypt.
The rest of your support will be used to aid them in Egypt to rent a place for a month until they find work.
If you cannot donate, the next best thing you could do for us is to share this with your friends and your community. I want my family out of harm's way, we would greatly appreciate any help we can get!
Here are also some photos which can explain better than any words :
This is the home that boomed when they was inside it , they live their until now because they have no place to go :

It is expected to be divided as follows:
A. Fees of Crossing Rafah border to leave Gaza and go to Egypt:
30,000 USD for 5 Adults .
B. The Sini:
2,000 USD Transportation from Rafah border crossing to Cairo. .
C. Upon arrival:
1,000 - 2,000 USD sustenance per month
D. Fundraising fees:
2.9% website fee
My priority is the 30,000 USD to get them to safety in Egypt.
The total target is 50,000 to include transport and support them until they get on their feet.
The rest of the money will be used as following:
Shelter & Accommodation: Upon evacuation, funds will be used to provide temporary shelter and accommodation for my family in Egypt. This will ensure they have a roof over their heads and a safe space to call home as they navigate their journey to stability.
Medical Care & Assistance: Given the precarious health conditions of some family members, especially my father , a portion of the funds will be dedicated to securing medical care and assistance. This includes accessing critical medications, treatments, and healthcare services to address urgent health concerns and ensure their well-being.
Education & Support: Any extra funds will be allocated towards educational support and resources to help my younger two sisters .
How Can You Support Us?
Every donation, no matter how small, could make a big difference to their lives, especially for the children. They're the ones who are most vulnerable to the traumas of war, and every day is a struggle for them.
If you cannot donate, the next best thing you could do for us is to please share this with your friends and community. I want my family out of harm's way, we would greatly appreciate any help we can get!
With your support, we can give them a chance to escape the horrors they've endured and create a better future.
Please, let's come together and do whatever we can to help save these innocent lives from the brink of death and the scars of trauma.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting our cause.
Your generosity will make a world of difference for my family.
I wish the best for you all and your families!
Thank you again for your understanding, and compassion.
