The CGA Youth Athletic Sponsorship Fund honors the remarkable legacy of a devoted coach and mentor who spent over 25 years shaping the lives of young athletes through sports. Christopher's passion for athletics was not just a personal journey but a shared experience, extending from his own engagement in baseball, basketball, tennis, cross country running, and track & field during his youth to a lifelong commitment to coaching. Predominantly focusing on youth basketball, he also made significant contributions to softball and volleyball, demonstrating an unparalleled dedication to fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and personal growth.
Christopher's journey in athletics was deeply personal, beginning with his own love for sports, which he then passed on to his daughters, countless young athletes, and eventually, his grandchildren. His ability to inspire and nurture talent, combined with his unwavering support, left an indelible mark on the community.
Following his passing on February 1, 2024, his family established the CGA Youth Athletic Sponsorship Fund to continue his mission of empowering young athletes. The fund aims to support and create basketball programs and training spaces that embody Coach Chris's spirit of dedication and mentorship. Additionally, it seeks to provide scholarships to athletes who require financial assistance, ensuring that the barriers to participation are lowered.
The ultimate goal of the fund is not only to honor Coach Chris's memory but also to perpetuate his belief in the transformative power of sports. By investing in the development and support of young athletes, the fund aspires to cultivate the same passion, resilience, and camaraderie that Coach Chris championed throughout his life. Through this enduring legacy, the fund will continue to impact the lives of young athletes, echoing Coach Chris's profound commitment to sports and personal development for generations to come.
