My name is Badie Shawa.
I’ve spent years working as a paramedic at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, doing what I can to help those in need, even as the situation around us becomes more desperate. Since October 7, I’ve faced unimaginable challenges. Trapped in Al-Shifa during the siege, I continued my work despite the constant bombardment and lack of supplies, knowing that each moment might be my last.
During an attempt to transfer the injured to another hospital, the ambulance I was in was targeted and bombed. I was injured in that attack, and shrapnel remains lodged in my body—a painful reminder of that day. But even now, I continue to volunteer with ambulance crews, doing what I can to help those who are suffering.
After 21 days of being trapped in Al-Shifa, the Israeli forces forced me south alone, leaving my family behind in the north. The separation has been unbearable. My family remains in the north, where famine and devastation have made survival nearly impossible. Tragically, my sister and her children were killed by the occupation army. The thought of my remaining family struggling to find food and basic necessities haunts me every day.
I am reaching out for your support. While I can’t be with my family, I can send them money to help them survive. The cost of living has skyrocketed, and they are in dire need of assistance just to get by. Your donations can make a critical difference, helping my family endure these dark times.
Please consider donating and sharing this campaign. Your support will go directly to ensuring that my family has the means to survive. I am grateful for any help you can provide.
Thank you.
