I never thought I would have to rely on something like this. There are so many families and people struggling, I'm just one of many.
My name is Chad Canfield. I am 43 years old. I work two jobs: I work full-time at a local hospital here in Parkersburg and part-time as a custodian at Wood County Schools. I am also a single father to four wonderful blessings, 2 boys and 2 girls ages 16, 14, 12 and 10. Every day, I strive to be the best father that I can be to my kids, I strive to provide them with everything that they need, and I'm also strong on my faith as I strive to be the best Christian man that I can be. I have been a single father for over 4 years and have faced many struggles. There were days that I didn't know how I was going to make it, there were days that I didn't know if we would have a roof over our head. But, thanks to my Savior Jesus Christ, he has always provided for us. We may not live in a fancy house, I drive a 2003 model vehicle, but I am very thankful for everything that we have and forever grateful for what the Lord has provided for us. Now that you know a little bit about me, here's my story.
Yesterday evening, I was out and stopped at a gas station. I put my car in park and, just because I was only going to be in for a few seconds to get a soda, I tossed my keys in the middle console of my vehicle and walked inside. As I returned to my vehicle, my whole set of keys were gone. I searched frantically throughout my vehicle over half a dozen times, I searched throughout the 7-11 gas station just as many times, only to come up empty-handed. I only searched because it was the last resort, knowing that I had laid my keys in my vehicle. This gas station, I mind you, is literally 300 yards away from my apartment across the road. I had no way of getting the vehicle back other than calling a tow truck, which in turn cost me $200 to get it towed that 300 yards. I stayed up all night last night, scared of somebody coming and trying to steal my vehicle. This 2003 model Ford Explorer vehicle is our only means of transportation for my kids and myself.
I spent all morning calling dealerships and locksmiths pricing to get a new key made. Due to it being a chip in the key and then having to program it, I could not get a key made for no less than $475 to $500. To a lot of people, that may not seem like a lot, and many people may be able to just say, 'hey, here's $500'. But I, unfortunately, am not one of those people. Like I stated, I work two jobs and I'm a single father to four kids. I barely make ends meet the way that it is. I have prayed non-stop, asking the Lord what I can do. And I believe this is his answer. I have to put my feelings aside and not be ashamed to do what I am doing on GoFundMe. So, this GoFundMe is to purchase a key for our vehicle. And Cover the Towing Expense So, if you find it in your heart to help support this cause, I will be forever grateful and thankful. And even if you cannot donate to this cause, I am still thankful and grateful. Prayers are also accepted and appreciated. Thank you for your time and may God Bless you all.
