Chad Dockery's traumatic motorcycle accident
Donation protected
One of my closest friends (Jennifer Dockery) her husband (Chad Dockery) was in a horrible motorcycle accident on July 1st. Chad was life flighted to a level 1 trauma hospital in Mobile. He was given two units of blood on the flight just to make it there alive. Then upon arrival, he had to receive 2 more units of blood. He had lost over 1/2 the blood in his body. He crushed 4 of his top ribs, all the way around to his T4-T8 on his spine. He collapsed his left lung, damanaged his kidney, liver, and lacerated his spleen. His left leg was completely destroyed from the knee down. He was hospitalized for 28 days and within the first 18 days he unwent 12 surgery's. After his 2nd surgery he came out of surgery on life support due to all the trauma his body had went through . It wasn't until his 10th surgery that they were able to rebuild the shaddered bones in his left lower leg. He had a rod and screws placed from the knee down and cement placed where they couldn't find pieces of the shaddered bone. With his 11th surgery, the surgeon had to move one of the muscles from the back of the leg to the front of the leg due to his muscle dying and the loss of all the soft tissue around it which resulted in another surgery consisting of a large skin graft. He was informed last week that he will be having another surgery this coming week. They will be removing the cement and replacing it with bone taken from his hip or tailbone. With not only being out of work, they've had a lot of unexpected expenses thrown their way which includes special equipment he's needed, wound care supplies, hospital bills, more unexpected surgery's requiring copays, and copays for follow up visits. All his follow up visits are 4 hours away which consist of gas, meals, hotel stays since he is unable to make the 8 hour trip in one day. All of this has really taken a toll on this family, if possible and in your heart, can you please help lessen the financial burden. If you are unable to give, will you please share this with others. Thank you for taking the time to hear his story. Please keep them in your prayers as he has a long, hard road to recovery.
