Chad Gagnon Electrical Explosion and Burns
My Name is David Pefley, and I am creating this fundraiser to help not only my best friend and his family, but someone who is like a brother to me.
On the morning of July 14th, 2021, I was talking to Chad on the phone and he was telling me what his day entailed, and his plans for the job he was on. We talked about his recent vacation and his projects at home. How he was planning projects for him and his kids to do and how he loved spending time with all three of his kids and wife. For those that don’t know Chad, he loves his family more than anything, and would fight the universe for them. We ended up getting off the phone with each other that morning, so we could start our work day. Not long after I got off the phone with Chad, I received a phone call from one of his coworkers, telling me he was in an electrical explosion, and that he was in a bad way. (For those that do not know what an electrical explosion is, I ask you to do a quick video search, and you will see how devastating it is to the body.) Although he was awake and aware, it was evident that he was in shock. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, and was told that he would be placed in a medically induced coma, due to the amount of severe trauma that his body had experienced. After speaking to his wife later that same day, it was determined that he had experienced 3rd degree burns on 22% of his body, he would stay in a medically induced coma for at least a week, and that he would need many surgeries and skin grafts, with months of rehabilitation. The doctors said he would have to learn to use at least his right hand again, and possibly how to eat again. The doctors also said they weren’t sure how his face would turn out cosmetically, but that they would do their best. Chad has a long road ahead of him, and many months of recovery and rehabilitation. Please consider donating whatever you can, as any amount helps.
Chad is a union electrician, and has touched the lives of many people, and he was always willing to stop, and teach someone that wanted to learn. I’m sure many of our brothers and sisters in the local have worked with and for Chad in the past and know the type of person and mentor he is.
I will update this as time progresses, and new updates come to light. Currently, it is still very preliminary so more findings may come by the doctors. Please note, I specifically did not post pictures of his injuries for a reason.
100% of any and all amount raised will be turned over to his wife.
