Chad Hanna's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected

The Hanna family recently received some harrowing news. On May 25th, Chad had an unknown medical emergency that required him to be taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis for immediate assistance and diagnostics. What was originally thought to be a possible stroke turned into a shocking diagnosis after a CT Scan. The scan showed that Chad has a brain tumor. St. Luke’s MRI confirmed the tumor upon getting more imaging.

After meeting with the neurosurgeon at St. Luke’s it was clear the severity of this concern, and the decision was made to get him transferred to Barnes Jewish Hospital, downtown, to receive the best care, medical advice, and treatment. This swift and efficient transfer was made possible by a family friend in the medical community.

After initial tests and imaging were re-run at BJC, Chad, Stacia, and their son Colin sat with a top neurosurgeon at BJC, Dr. Leuthardt. It was at this time that Dr. Leuthardt shared that with the imaging they did and his vast clinical experience, we were dealing with a serious, and malignant tumor that needs to be removed, coupled with post-surgical treatments of chemotherapy and radiation. Under the support of family, and prayerful consideration, Chad has elected to be aggressive and firm in attacking this; opting for surgical removal, and radiation and chemotherapy in post-operation.

As you can imagine, this has rocked our family, though we continue to lean on friends and family, stand strong in our faith, trust in God, and believe in the ability of these quality Doctors. This diagnosis and subsequent surgery, treatment, and unknowns mean that my dad, Chad, will not be able to work for the foreseeable future; and even then the future is unknown, with possible lasting effects from the surgical tumor removal.

My mom, Stacia, has been by his side through all of this, and their love is strong, 34+ years of marriage. She is going to be his primary caretaker during this unknown and likely lengthy period of time, and also unable to work. Due to the loss of income, this harsh reality coupled with medical expenses and future expenses for treatments, there is a very real need for help and support. We are asking for support spiritually, emotionally, and financially for my dad and mom.

Please pray for divine healing, the Doctor & Medical Staff, my family, and friends, and of course, my dad—he is the wisest, kindest, and most amazing man I have ever met; and that is not hyperbole. If you know him, you know who he is at his core, and what he means to all of his friends, family, and especially his “grand buddies” (grand kids). We ask that you consider giving financially, in whatever way you can. Any and all support is greatly appreciated and will go directly to Chad's care and support.
