Chad Hughey Accident Expense Campaign
Donation protected
Everyone who knows Chad Hughey knows that he is an all-around great guy. As a father of three and husband to wife, Dana, Chad works hard as a business owner to provide for his family. Chad loves to hunt, and he enjoys teaching and sharing his passion for hunting with others, especially his sons Jackson and William.
Chad’s life, and that of his family. changed forever on October 4th when stopped in traffic on I20/59 in Birmingham, his vehicle was struck from behind by two other vehicles. The injuries sustained in this accident has left Chad paralyzed from the chest down. Over the last several weeks since the accident, Chad has remained in critical condition in the trauma ICU at UAB Hospital. He has undergone several procedures and three major surgeries that have helped save his life and stabilize his condition.
The good news is that Chad did not suffer any brain trauma. He is alert and communicating with family and friends and he has the use of both arms. We are thankful for answered prayers and that Chad will eventually return to his life, however we recognize that the entire family will be adjusting to a new norm that will require many changes to accommodate Chad’s needs.
Although there is currently no end in sight to Chad’s hospital stay, friends and family are eager to start the processes necessary to help Chad and his family prepare for his journey home in the coming months. Chad and Dana will have many decisions ahead of them and the hope is they will have the financial resources to do what is best for their family. Contributions will be used to help cover Dana’s expenses as she travels to and from Birmingham to be with Chad, support the cost of changes to their home and vehicles to allow for wheelchair access, and to help cover any medical support costs that extend past insurance coverage.
Thank you for reading Chad’s story! We ask above anything else that you keep this sweet family in your thoughts and prayers.
