Chai Shai Restaurant cook for the NHS Bristol
Shilpi and Faruk Choudhury have closed their restaurant doors to the public at Chai Shai Kitchen, Jacobs Wells Road, Bristol; but they have not stopped cooking.
Weeks 1-7: Instead they are dedicating their time to cooking over 100 meals a day for NHS staff at Southmead Hospital and the BRI. With help and support from Pak Butchers Bristol, Bath Wholesalers Fruiters; and Bristol Sweet Mart they have created a steady stream of deliveries since the Covid-19 outbreak has devastated our communities.
Week 8 onward: It is currently Ramadan, and we continue to cook; our focus now moving onto key workers. We have delivered food to collection staff at Bristol Waste, nursing homes and more.
Chai Shai Kitchen are also taking orders for food packages for the vulnerable and isolated.
You can place a pre-order at [email redacted].
This is a pre-order and pre-arranged collection service only.
It would be ideal for Hotwells and Clifton/ Cliftonwood community members and local organisations supporting the elderly and vulnerable to make use of our service.
So far we have a small team of volunteers, but we can always do with more help. If you are interested in this please email us and we will get back to you and fit you into our rota. In this ever changing landscape of the outbreak, please make sure you are up to date with what we are doing by keeping an eye on our Chai Shai Kitchen FaceBook page, where you will see daily photos and status updates : Chai Shai Kitchen

We kindly ask for a minimum pledge of £5, as this will pay for one meal, for one vital member of staff, not including the packaging and delivery. Our fundraising target will change according to how long this crisis stays in our midst. A hot cooked meal, for the end of their long shift is what all our NHS staff deserve.
Thank you all for your support. Shilpi and Faruk Choudhury
