Chak De C'ville 2024 - Bollywood Fusion Dance Comp

Hi! Our names are Sarika and Shreya and we are fourth-year students at the University of Virginia. Earlier this year, we had the idea to create the first ever South Asian fusion and Indian classical dance competition in Charlottesville, VA called Chak De C'ville to exhibit and spread South Asian culture and dance in the city on March 30, 2024. We will be hosting 12 collegiate dance teams from across the country that weekend to showcase their talent in the beautiful Paramount Theater in the historic downtown Charlottesville!! Since we were young, both of us have been extremely passionate about dancing, specifically Bharatnatyam and Bollywood, and dance has also been our biggest involvement in college. We are so excited to be able to bring dancers like us from universities all across the nation together to showcase their talents and roots. Any money raised in this fundraiser will be used directly for funding the competition. The funding will be used for things such as the venue, food for the teams, photographer/videographer, etc. This is an incredibly large endeavor and we cannot do it without the support of our friends, family and the Charlottesville community. Additionally, we are partnered with a charity called Sakhi! Any extra profit from this event will go toward Sakhi which directly supports South Asian Women who are in an abusive household.
