105-Mile Chalke Valley CC to The Oval 3-Day Walk
Donation protected
This is a very personal fundraiser for me. I've been involved with a number over the years from helping to raise money for cancer charities to victims of war and genocide, but this is for my local cricket club. It's a very worthy cause and I'm trying to raise money to safeguard the future of the club and especially junior cricket for a generation to come and more.
So, I'm walking with other members of the Chalke Valley Cricket Club from our ground in Bowerchalke to the Kia Oval in London over three days from 30 May - 1 June 2023.
It's a 105-mile walk but we're undertaking this epic journey to raise money for our own club and particularly our Junior Section and also for the Surrey Cricket Foundation and the work they do to support and improve the recreational game of cricket in Surrey and South London.
There is very little state school cricket, and junior sport - so important for children's development, well-being, mental and physical health - is dependent on volunteers and fund-raising for the necessary facilities. Chalke Valley CC has a growing and thriving Junior Club but is in desperate need of funds. So, too, is the Surrey Cricket Foundation with whom we're partnering.
It's a long way and we're going to suffer - sore feet, sore legs, probably a few blisters - and I'm sure we'll be cursing for ever getting involved. Knowing we're raising vital funds, though, will keep us going - so please do give as generously as you can. A million thanks!
