Challenging the NHS over the future of Chase Hospital
Donation protected
My name is Lisa and I'm a member of the Whitehill and Bordon Community. For those who live in our Community you'll be aware of the extensive residential development that has taken place and continues to take place, along with the promised services that formed part of the residential development deal, which despite years of lobbying by various Community and council members, have failed to materialise. You'll also be aware of how the NHS has deliberately run down our only Community hospital service, the Chase Hospital, the land on which it stands was left to the Community by Joan Knowles who specified that it must be used as a community hospital or ambulance station. There seems to be some confusion at local authority level about where our 'new' health hub should be located. For various, but only partially valid reasons, they want it located in the 'new' town centre, and the Community has been told, therefore, that our Chase Community Hospital must be forfeited. The Community disagrees. Fine, build the 'new' health hub in the 'new' town centre, but regardless of that we do require The Chase to be reinstated as a fully working community hospital. Whether that is to deliver rehab or outpatients, some inpatients or other, can be later decided according to the Community's needs. But we, as a Community do require the current owner, NHS Property Services Ltd, to use the land for the purpose Joan Knowles indisputably specified and on this, NHS Property Services Ltd must be held to account. To do this, the Community will need appropriate legal advice. Legal advice costs money, I hope this crowd funding page can raise enough to get us started on the job in hand. It doesn't matter how much you contribute, all the little sums add up. If we don't raise enough, then what sum is raised, will go to Whitehill Town Council to fund a community project. I really do hope we are able to raise enough to get the ball rolling. Thank you for reading.
