Champions and Friends of Hunslet Moor

Craig and I run Champions, offering FREE turn up and play football to the children and young people of South Leeds every Saturday morning, as well as in the school holidays. Our project also includes breakfast and lunch.

Friends of Hunslet Moor are a community group that looks after the area with regular litter picks and seasonal events for our residents. Both organisations work in collaboration with one another to integrate both the younger and older generations and provide a safe space.

The hut we both work out of and have worked tirelessly to refurb, was broken into on Thursday morning. They’ve taken everything… All the food Champions provides for its members. All the Christmas, Easter and tombola items FOHM had accumulated. Our microwave, toaster, every cleaning item, even our salt and pepper.

In order to function and continue to support our community, these items will need replacing. Brenda and I never considered setting up a Go Fund Me page, it’s purely due to being asked many times in the last 24 hours that we’ve gone down this route. We’re blown away with the offers of help, donations and money - it’s heartwarming and restores our faith that the good far outweighs the bad.
