Chance saved my life, help me save his.

Hi, my name is Jen and I’m fundraising for emergency veterinary bills for my dog Chance.

On Monday Chance was super unstable when he was standing and uncoordinated when he was walking when he woke up. He progressively got worse throughout the day, falling off furniture, not able to sit down, staggering around. I ended up taking him to the vet ER. He has acute cerebellar ataxia which causes poor muscle control resulting in clumsy movement, an abnormal gait, and lack of balance.

He was transferred to neurology where he had X-rays, a brain MRI and spinal tap to check for tumors, infections, and inflammation that could be causing the ataxia. So far just the hospitalization and diagnostic tests have cost $5000. From what the doctors said depending on what’s causing the ataxia he might need several different medications, radiation, or even surgery. And if it’s not caught and treated quickly it can be very aggressive and fatal.

Chance has been my ride or die since the day I rescued him almost 5 years ago. The past month I’ve been undergoing Electroconvulsive Therapy (yes it still exists) to treat a major depressive episode. Chance has been patiently by my side everyday helping me through the side effects from ECT and flare up in PTSD symptoms.

I’m big on paying it forward. The therapy dog visits when I was hospitalized were some of the most effective and healing experiences. Chance and I are training to be a therapy dog team to visit sick patients in hospitals. Chance is the perfect dog for this but he has to be stable and healthy.
