Chandler Barnes Support Fund

On the morning of Tuesday, July 16, Chandler Barnes was senselessly shot at his home in Nashville, Tennessee. Thanks to his fiancé Taylor, a quick-acting neighbor and a team of paramedics and doctors, Chandler survived and is recovering from his injuries in a local hospital.

Chandler is universally known for his boundless generosity, his fierce loyalty to loved ones and his relentless sense of curiosity. Those who know him best were not surprised to hear that he was making sarcastic jokes, despite the severity of his condition, upon arriving at the hospital for emergency surgery. Nor are they surprised by the resilience and quiet strength that he’s shown at every turn during his first couple days of recovery.

Family and friends have expressed nothing but gratitude and utter relief that the Chandler we all know and love hasn’t changed a bit. But the healing process is just beginning and will require the support of his entire community. While the doctors’ immediate concerns in the torso have been addressed through surgery, Chandler also sustained a spinal cord injury, broken bones in all four limbs, a broken pelvis, and internal injuries that will require significant physical therapy as he fights to recover.

The costs of the healing process are unknown at this point but could include:

- hospital bills / insurance deductibles

- meals for Chandler and his family

- physical therapy / rehabilitation

- mental health counseling

- temporary home accessibility modifications

- cleaning services

- pet sitting for their two dogs and cat

Chandler is the type of person to groan at the existence of a fundraiser like this on his behalf, while simultaneously being the first to start one for a friend in need. He’s also the type of person to memorize the names of his doctors and nurses so that he can thank them by name the second the breathing tube was removed (yes, he really did this).
