The mission of the Chandler Langlois Scholarship Fund is to establish a scholarship program in the name of Chandler Sean Langlois, a wonderful young man. He was tragically taken too soon at the young age of 20 due to an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects less than 20 people per year (NUT Midline Carcinoma), but through this scholarship he will never be forgotten. Each year the scholarship will be awarded to a young man who exemplifies the qualities and values of Chandler. Chandler strived to set positive examples, not only on the golf course and in the classroom, but in all aspects of life. He believed it was about making a difference in people’s lives and giving back whenever you had the chance.
He graduated from Scarborough High School in 2015 and was attending the University of Maine, Orono, pursuing a double major in Accounting and Finance. Chandler had a unique ability to excel at any sport he tried. His ultimate passion from when he was just 4 years old was Golf. He played for the Scarborough High School team helping them to their first ever Maine State Championship title in 2015. He was also fond of Ultimate Frisbee, pickleball, ping pong, and basketball. Chandler was always so considerate to go out of his way to retrieve stray balls for anyone with whom he was playing so they didn't have to themselves. His dad had a deal with Chandler that he would pay for all of Chandler's golf if Chandler would give him free golf lessons; Chandler still owes his dad those golf lessons, and he will be looking for those lessons every time he plays.
Chandler touched many lives and had many friends. He always made you feel comfortable and left you feeling better about yourself. He was proud to be a brother of Delta Tau Delta at the University of Maine. He was a very positive, upbeat person with a wonderful sense of humor and personality and was always so kind and appreciative of everyone and everything. He would never just say "Thank You", instead he always said "Thank You So Much". Above everything else, Chandler was an exceptional leader in every sense of the word, who led by example with integrity and character. He exemplified passion, dedication and perseverance, treating everyone with respect and admiration. Chandler has left us—his family and friends—and all those whose lives he touched with an incredible legacy. He set a standard for everyone around him by the way he lived his life, which is an example for us all to strive towards.
The recipient of the Chandler Langlois Scholarship Fund will embody all of these characteristics. This scholarship is not only about furthering a young person's aspirations of playing golf, but also preparing them for the future as there are always opportunities to be better in every aspect of life. This is the mission of the Chandler Langlois Scholarship Fund.
