Help Chandra WIN her 2-year war with Cancer
Donation protected
For almost two years, Chandra Wiegand has been battling stage four non-hodgkins lymphoma (DLBCL) which is aggressive and difficult to treat, as it mutates quickly.
Not yet 50, this mother of two and much-loved second-grade teacher has endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy (R-CHOP, Pola-BR), an autologous stem-cell transplant, and CAR T cell therapy.
Each treatment ended with hope and even positive signs for remission, but her cancer ultimately returned.
She is now undergoing another round of chemotherapy in the hopes that doctors can slow the progress of the disease.
Thanks to the incredible research being done around the world, there is a new drug that could offer Chandra her best chance at remission. Glofitamab, developed by Roche, has been approved by Health Canada and is available, but it is a prohibitively-expensive treatment as it is not covered by OHIP.
While Chandra's private health insurance may agree to cover a portion of the cost, assessment and approval for treatments like these can take time.
The sooner Chandra gets this treatment, the better her chances are at winning this battle and realising her dream of seeing her two young sons grow up.
Whatever you can donate to help defray the cost of her $150,000+ treatment would be greatly appreciated.
If the insurance company eventually pays some of the cost, any excess funds will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada to help someone else in need.
Any amount that you can offer to help bring hope to Chandra and her family will allow her to access this potentially life-saving medication. Every dollar makes a difference.
Chandra is strong and she is hopeful. I never thought I'd be making a Go Fund Me page but thank goodness for modern technology. Please help me help my friend - my sister by choice - make a miracle come true. #chandraneedsus
