Qualifying School, my way to the LPGA
My name is Chandra Hall, and I am raising money to help my journey of qualifying for the LPGA. The funds raised will go towards Qualifying School (three stages worth). I am currently registered for Stage 1, which will take place August 24-27th.
$10,000 seems like a lot, I know. But to break it down:
Stage 1 Entry fee: $2,500 (Aug. 21-27th)
Located at Mission Hills CC in Rancho Mirage, CA. I am driving to cut back on some costs.
Stage 2: $2,500 (Oct. 16-22nd)
Located in Venice, FL.
Stage 3: $0 (Nov. 27-Dec. 3) located in Daytona Beach, FL.
As you can see by the dates I am spending at minimum 1 week at each stage, which adds up in hotel fees, gas, food, airline fees and rental fees. It's costly, but if I make it to Stage 3 I have a chance at getting my LPGA tour card (usually top 20). If I fall short of that, I will have full status to play on the Symetra Tour and earn my way to the LPGA.
Quick Bio
To give you a brief rundown of how I got here, I have been playing golf since the age of 8. My junior golf career started thanks to my dad, who founded a junior golf tour based here in west Texas. I fell in love with the game. From junior golf to high school to college golf, I have known this is the path I need to take. When I graduated college I played on some mini tours for a couple of years, then took a job as a Head Golf Coach at Angelo State University. At the time, I thought it was the right thing. Two years of coaching made me realize that my dreams and goals were not yet fufilled. I want to play on the LPGA, and I want to be one of the best golfers to make it. I Gave up 2 full time jobs to take on this journey. My mind is set, and any help I receive will be greatly appreciated. While accomplishing my goal will be so rewarding, nothing can beat the support I will have received along the way.
The Real Deal
The 3 Stages of Qualifying School are in August, October and December. My goal is to raise enough funds to support all my travel and entry fee costs so I can compete without worrying about if I have enough money to do so. Reality is, playing with money on your mind is tough. I did it last year and it puts a different kind of pressure on you. Having funds to help me while I'm there takes off a burden I can't even describe unless you have been there. I've been blessed to have a supportive husband to do everything he can to help me prep, but to play through Q School takes funds that I don't have. Anything helps!
When I have time on my hands, how I mark my golf balls!
