Change the Story of a Homeless Family

Donation protected
Hi,
I’m a teacher seeking to help my student and her family.

I have a student that is about to be displaced from their shelter.

This GoFundMe is a plea and call to action for those of us who have been blessed with so much.

Your donations, whether $1, $5, etc, help them find an immediate stay, or maybe a lawyer to help with their asylum seeking process, or anything else to help them.

They are a family of four. The mom was a nurse in Venezuela and Ecuador. She is looking for work as an elderly care taker. The father has experience in many trades and is handy. He is willing to work at anything. The oldest daughter is a freshman in high school and the youngest, my prek student.

Imagine the chill that steals through every bone when your world shrinks to a cardboard box on a city sidewalk. Imagine the fear that gnaws at your heart when your lullaby is sung beneath the roar of traffic, not the comfort of a roof. This is the reality for a family I know, a family that deserves so much more.

Two bright eyes you might recognize peek out from that harsh world – my student. Their small hand, which once grasped a crayon to color dreams, now clutches a thin blanket against the night's bite. But you know the fire that burns within, the same one that fuels the thirst for knowledge in your classroom. Now, imagine that fire flickering under the weight of homelessness, threatened by a future painted in the cruel hues of cold concrete and empty bellies.

This isn't just a story of hardship; it's a story of human lives thrown adrift. The mother, once a dedicated nurse in Venezuela and Ecuador, cradles her children while yearning to hold a stethoscope again, to offer care instead of needing it. Her husband, with hands shaped by a thousand jobs, stands tall despite the city's crushing indifference, his skills and strength waiting to be harnessed. These are not figures in a news report; they are a family, human beings yearning for the same basic necessities we often take for granted – a warm bed, a steaming shower, a meal eaten without fear.

We can be the bridge that brings them back from the icy edge. We can be the beacon that guides them toward the shore of a decent life. My student, their eyes filled with the echoes of classroom laughter, deserves to dream again of a future brimming with possibilities, not shadowed by uncertainty. They deserve the chance to learn, to grow, to contribute to this city that has become their new horizon.

This is not just an act of charity; it's an investment in humanity. Every donated dollar is a brick in the foundation of their future, a step towards a life where the mother can heal, the father can build, and the children can learn, grow, and paint their dreams on a canvas brighter than any sidewalk.

Open your hearts, reach into your pockets, and let's shower this family not with pity, but with the tools they need to rebuild their lives. Give them a roof, a hot meal, a chance to rise again.

Let's show them that this city, this community, has a warmth that extends beyond brick and mortar, a warmth that embraces compassion and ignites hope. Together, we can rewrite their story, a story where resilience triumphs over hardship, where kindness becomes the foundation for a future etched in dreams, not despair.

Donate. Share. Make a difference. Let's bring this family, and our student's laughter, back into the fold of warmth and belonging. They deserve it. We can do it.
