I am asking you to join me in making a difference in the lives of our local youth. I'm raising money to benefit The Martinsburg Rock School Inc; any donation will help make an impact. The Martinsburg Rock School is dedicated to helping our community by using music as a platform to teach leadership skills, self-worth, and the value of teamwork. Our programs are founded on the belief that focusing on these areas translates to real-life skills and ensures success. Here at the Martinsburg Rock School, we believe music is an art governed by the soul and can change lives and communities. There’s something universal about the creative arts that’s good for health, and mental health in particular. Visual arts, drama, literature, and music, despite their differences, all have some things in common – they make us feel, provide meaning, stimulate reflection, and bring us together. Music is the best studied of art therapy, and helps to lower anxiety, depression, trauma, psychosis and stress. Important components of music therapy are the meaning of lyrics, improvisational music playing, active listening, and songwriting.
