Hello my name is Amanda Gausnell and I am 29 years old.
I am not good at asking for help but under these curcumstances I have no choice. We are hurting tremendously after my daughter and I, lost my Husband of 16 years, Chanler Rogers in a motorcycle accident August 31st 2022.
We were on our Motorcycles headed to Lowe's when out of nowhere this car runs a stop sign and with no time to stop Chanler hit his brakes. I watched as my husband collided with the side of the car. His helmet went flying through the air. His body bounced off the ground and was rolled into the wheelwell of the car. I came to a stop laying my bike on his and ran to him screaming with all my might "Please Someone HELP". I pulled him from the wheelwell of the car and took him into my arms. I noticed he was trying to say something to me. I Tore my helmet off so I could understand what he was saying. He was gurgling and I watched as he lost uncontiousnous. Suddenly a lady tapped me and said we needed to lay him flat so she could begin CPR. In distress I laid him down and backed up. She began CPR. The EMT's arrived and rushed to him. I noticed there was not one cut or scratch on him and no blood. I sat in disbelief and confused on why he was not responding. The medics said they could not get a pulse and that they needed to drain the blood around his lungs. They let me sit by his head rubbing his hair and whispering in his ear trying to get any response at all. I told him I loved him and to come back to me. I also told him not to leave me that we were supposed to be together forever.
After 45min they came to me and told me they were sorry there was nothing more they could do that he was gone.
My heart sank and I screamed as hard as I could. I stayed there until they were all gone. Not understanding that he was truly gone. My mom drove me home were I had to explain to our 9 year old daughter that her father was just in an accident. We fell to the ground together crying.
My heart is broken. Chanler and I had a fairytale relationship that started in elementary on the school bus. He was an amazing father, friend and husband. He worked everyday to provide for his family. Chanler is the kind of person people looked to for help, friendship, and loyalty.
We are struggling to make up for his lost wages and being without him all together. My life has been turned upside down and no amount of money will fix the hurt I am enduring but it can help with the stress of raising my child alone and bills that need paid. My life has since been full of tears but I know he is in heaven and watching over us.
Prayers are welcome I appreciate anyone even taking time to read my story and help our family get through this.
THANK YOU
