“If you don’t get a lung transplant, we don’t think you’ll have much time left.”
One of the hardest things to be told, is that you don’t have much time left to live.
As most of you know, our Mom has been fighting for her life. She was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease over 12 years ago, and as time has gone by the health of her lungs have gotten worse and worse. This past November, she was diagnosed with lung cancer and went through treatment as soon as possible. Unfortunately the damage to her lungs has gotten so bad, her only chance at survival is a double lung transplant. Just recently, and a lot sooner than we had all expected, she and her partner had to relocate to Toronto to be put on the waiting list for the transplant.
To say they’re overwhelmed is the least.
From keeping their home here in Sudbury as well as paying high rent in Toronto, to paying for all of her medication that is hardly covered by insurance, to just everyday living—all these expenses and more just to live longer. Living in Toronto itself costs over 2000$ in rent for a one bedroom apartment that is close to the hospitals. Where she needs to be.
She doesn’t like to ask for help, but it’s at the point where she doesn’t know where else to turn.
As a family we already do what we can to help, always have and always will but there’s absolutely no way we can all take over the bills that cost over 5000$ monthly. There is no knowing of how long it will be with these extra expenses.
We are now asking for your help. We are asking all of her friends and family, everyone that loves her and anyone that can relate if they are able to lend a helping hand. We want to reach out to help our Mom with her living expenses until she gets her new lungs. As her children, we don’t want her to have to worry.
A little goes a long way. Whether it be a donation, or even just sharing—we thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts.
It takes a village to change the world, and she’s our world. We need her here.
