Chapo's Fight

Hello. My name is Danielle. I am starting this GoFundMe for my cousin Chelsey. Chelsey has 4 kids, all boys. Chapo however just might be her favorite :) In the early morning hours of June 25th, 2023 Chapo was shot 5 times while in his own back yard in Shelbyville, TN. While sitting in her back yard enjoying some time with family and friends, the police walked up into Chelsey's driveway to the backyard. Chelsey greeted them, but they never stated their names or why they were there. With several adults and children in the yard, the police never asked nor gave an opportunity for the dog to be put back inside. As Chelsey was asking if she could put the dog up because we all know you can't move around an officer without asking permission first, the dog growled from several feet away and was immediately without any hesitation shot in the head and continued to be shot 4 more times in his body. One can imagine the shock and utter disbelief that Chelsey had to endure during that moment. The family plans to fight for justice for Chapo but right now our main concern is making sure he stays alive and is able to continue being the favorite. He was rushed to an emergency vet in Murfreesboro however due to his injuries he was then sent to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital. As of 5 pm today June 25, 2023, his brain is swelling. He has had a seizure and they are going to proceed with a CT scan to see if he has bleeding on his brain. Once that is determined, a plan for surgery will be made. Currently the estimate for care is $7k, and that's without the recommended surgery for the bullets that riddled his body and HEAD! UPDATE- Chapo survived the gun shots he endured! He will need future surgeries and several visits to the vet as he continues to fight to live!
