When Clouds Become Rainbows - A Book Supporting Young Children in Coping with Loss
My name is Caroline and I am a 28 year old Social Work student from Wrexham, North Wales. When I was young I lost my sister (Victoria) to leukaemia.
She was my inspiration to write "When Clouds Become Rainbows" because I felt growing up there wasn't enough support for children experiencing loss. I would love the book to reach as many children and families as possible. I know first hand just how helpful it could be.
The book includes small rhyming paragraphs, worded simply for children and colourful eye-catching illustrations. It will be a useful book to support children with their feelings after a bereavement.
A very talented local illustrator has volunteered her time to create pictures for the book (see image below). The publishers have kindly offered a discounted rate as the copies I am funding to create will be donated to three charities;
Cruse Bereavement Care
Alder Hey Children's Hospital Charity
Hope House Children's Hospice
We aim to publish 200 copies initially at a cost of £356. After these initial copies, any profits made from further sales will be donated to Cruse Bereavement Care. To highlight, this is a charity project, and at no point will any profit from the book be made by myself. We are hoping to print by the end of this year, or early 2021, once we have completed all illustration work, editing and have our final copy ready.
Thank you for reading my story and I hope you are able to support the book. A huge thanks for any donations made. It is appreciated more than you know.
Warmest thanks,
Caroline :) x
