Charity Bike Ride for Anthony Evans

On the bank holiday weekend of the 28th May to 30th May, we will be covering the distance from Cardiff to St.Austell in loving memory of Anthony Evans, beloved brother to our housemate James. Tragically, in the early hours of Sunday 21st February, Anthony suffered an unexpected heart attack, was rushed to hospital and later induced into a coma. Despite his sheer stubbornness and determination not to give up, his heart had stopped beating for a significant period of time and this meant it was an impossible task to recover from. Anthony sadly passed away on Tuesday 23rd February, surrounded by his loving family.

Every year over 600 young and seemingly healthy people die suddenly and unexpectedly from sudden cardiac death. (SADS) or sudden adult death syndrome, is a cause of death that even the experts don’t understand. Anthony’s family have chosen a fantastic charity in ‘Cardiac Risk in the Young’ (CRY). Since their formation in 1995 they have been leading the way in research into SADS. They support young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offer bereavement support to families affected. CRY also promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. We therefore feel it is right to raise as much money as possible in Anthony’s name and to raise awareness for a fantastic charity in CRY.

To do so we will be cycling the distance from our little Cardiff home to Anthony’s home address in St.Austell, Cornwall (approximately 200 miles) over the course of three days. Anthony was an incredibly talented young man with a bright future ahead of him and the outpouring of support and love since his passing reflects the profound impact he had on so many. Any donations that we receive for this challenge that we can pass on to this worthy charity, will be greatly appreciated.
