Charity Fund in Memory of Ziya Bilen

Andrew, Daniel & Gabriel Bilen, the sons of Dr. Ziya Bilen, have decided to honor the memory of our Dad by raising funds for an organization that provided our family a great deal of care and support during a particularly challenging time.

In the final days of his life, our family was welcomed with open arms by the incredible team of volunteers at the Sloan Comfort Care Home - a not-for-profit organization serving Erie County with the goal of making the passing of a loved one a more manageable and memorable experience, rather than simply a tragic one.

They took incredibly good care of Ziya during his final days, making him feel comfortable and at home, surrounded by an adopted family of volunteer staff. Just as importantly, they made the three of us feel entirely at home, while being fully-supported. It gave us the opportunity to celebrate Ziya's legacy, surrounded by his family and friends, focused on sharing happy memories and stories of his life.

We are so grateful for how Sloan Comfort Care Home was able to make our final time with our father a beautiful and celebratory moment, leaving us with positive memories that we will always cherish. In Ziya's honor, our goal is to help raise funds for this amazing cause, and the equally amazing team of volunteer staff that make it possible. It is our way of giving back to them, in even a small way, the gift they have given us that will stay with us.
