Charity Fundraiser in Memory of Holly
Donation protected
Hello
Our dear eldest child and elder daughter Holly died suddenly at home from bronchopneumonia related to influenza on Sunday 15th March 2020. She was 32 years old.
Holly was an inspiration: loving, generous and kind with a great sense of humour and an intense passion for justice. She suffered from mental ill-health all her adult life with diagnoses including bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She fought her many demons with courage and determination but was also constantly on the lookout for ways she could help those who were struggling more than her.
In recognition of her desire to help others, especially those battling mental illness and coping with disadvantage in life, we are raising funds for three charities that were close to Holly's heart and life experience:
1. BRYNAWEL HOUSE - a leading secular organisation delivering evidence-based interventions for alcohol and drug dependencies in a residential setting in Wales. Holly spent five very positive months here in 2017.
2. RECOCO - a peer-led recovery, education and support service in Newcastle upon Tyne promoting connection, confidence, friendship, and learning. Holly enjoyed being part of this community from 2019-20.
3. MIND - a national charity providing advice and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental illness. Holly knew the importance of campaigning and fundraising in this area because of the shocking lack of state support and investment.
Any donations will be divided between these three charities to help with their valuable work. Thank you for anything you can give.
Louise and Rob Dalton and family.
(PS We don't have a target but the post required us to enter an amount!)
