Shelley Pollard did not have a home, she was fighting against the freezing cold every winter, just a coffee or a blanket was not enough to save her life. She sadly left us on the 21st of March 2018. This tragic event happened a few month after a homeless man with beautiful soul playing harmonica in the street had his life taken away this winter.
I regularly talk to homeless people in the street and got to know their stories and situations. Most of them cannot have access to a shelter and are on a waiting list. They also lost their job because they do not have a home address and cannot have a house because they don't have a job. It is a situation with no end. But creating more space in shelters and projects such as a coffee that would employ homeless people could put an end to this situation. It is now time to save their lives.
To contribute to that change I am fundraising for Porchlight with a song I wrote for the homeless. This song is called Gold. Gold because we should not see homeless people as vulnerable or inferior but as beautiful individuals with a soul of Gold. Homeless people deserve a life, a smile and love. They are our brothers and sisters. The lyrics of the song says "my tears have turned to gold" because no matter how much money a person may have everyone has a treasure of gold inside. Homeless people have gold in their heart and amazing talents but it is now time to see it and look beyond appearance. Everyone has a story behind their eyes.
