Charity skydive for Ella’s journey

Around 2 years ago Ella experienced a seizure, out of the blue, whilst heading to her usual swimming training. She was rushed to hospital and after various MRIs, CTs and other medical tests, the doctors found a cyst measuring 7.5 x 5.5cm In the top left of her brain. Symptoms such as headaches, seizures, dizziness and tiredness started making daily life more difficult.

Despite this, being the fighter that she is, Ella carried on with her high level swimming and cheerleading. Several months and countless hospital visits later, another smaller but denser cyst measuring 1.6 x 2cm was discovered in the centre of her brain. Although slightly smaller this 2nd cyst is more threatening and has more implications for both Ella and the doctors treating her. Since the 2nd diagnosis Ella has been out of school and missing out on core memories and experiences. She has had to adapt her way of life and readjust to her new routine, which includes the list of painkillers and drugs she takes each day. Brain surgery is a potential option however the complexity of her condition and her age are compelling factors against.

The brain charity, which I will be jumping 15 thousand feet for, helps to support people in similar situations to Ella. Their support ranges from lower level neurological impairments up to cysts and tumours similar to Ella’s. They assist with emotional, practical and social support for both people in similar situations to Ella and their families.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to Ella’s story and I hope my efforts will help the charity to help others.
