Hi, my name is Jennifer and I'm fundraising for my mother, Charlene. On April 14th, 2023 she woke up at 2:22 AM with slurred speech and trouble moving. She was able to reach out to me and I called 911 for her. After being admitted to the hospital and two long days of tests it was determined she had an Acute Ischemic Stroke in the left pontine. Her husband lives out of state working to make ends meet. Her youngest daughter had to move back from San Antonio to care for her. As many know an emergency room visit, being admitted to the hospital, and the extensive tests including but not limited to CT scans, MRIs, X-Rays and ultrasounds are not easy on the body or the wallet. Plus all of her Post-Stroke therapies and medical needs add to that. Charlene is currently uninsured and has to pay out of pocket for her doctor visits. She is currently undergoing the application process for a variety of financial assistance, but those funds are not guaranteed and take a long time to process. All funds will go towards - Hospital bills - Physical, Speech, and other necessary therapies - Medication - Labs and tests - Specialty products and foods to redevelop a healthy body - Additional resources to retain and gain back physical and mental independence that she has lost.
