Charles (Chuck) Davis's Fight Against Cancer
Doação protegida
Hi I am Becky Burrier.. sister to Anne and best sister in law to Chuck. I come to you our community to ask for help for Annie and Chuck.
Chuck and Anne find themselves in a situation they never thought they would face, and we are reaching out to you with heavy hearts. Our beloved Chuck has been dealt a devastating blow, and we are asking for your support in this time of great need.
Towards the end of January, Chuck's world turned upside down. He was not feeling well, and after a visit to the emergency room, our worst fears were confirmed. Chuck has Stage 4 cancer – a diagnosis that no one should ever have to hear. This merciless disease has spread to his liver, lungs, and abdomen wall, making it inoperable. Chuck is in the fight of his life, and we are determined to stand by his side every step of the way.
**Diagnosis (1/21/23):**
- Non-alcoholic Cirrhosis of the liver
- Stage 4 liver cancer that has metastasized to his lungs and abdomen wall
**Prognosis:**
The prognosis is not good. With aggressive treatment at the time of diagnosis, Chuck's doctors have given him a window of months to a year. Treatments gave Annie and Chuck time together. It gave them time to see friends and family. They made some memories and took the moments they needed.
Chuck's journey has not been easy. He regularly undergoes procedures to remove excess fluid from his abdomen, a painful process that takes a toll on his kidneys, leading to acute renal failure. His treatment is under the capable hands of Dr. Aponte at Texas Oncology - San Antonio Medical Center, and we are grateful for the dedication of the medical teams at Methodist Hospital and the South Texas Renal Care Group.
We've already witnessed some positive signs in Chuck's battle against this formidable foe. There was a slight reduction in the size of the liver tumor with treatment. However, one of the chemotherapy drugs has become too harsh for his kidneys to bear, making the road ahead even more challenging.
As if the current situation is not burdensome enough, due to his inability to work, Chuck no longer has group life insurance. With a cancer diagnosis, he is unable to obtain individual life insurance coverage. When his journey reaches its end, we know this will create an additional financial burden on Annie to cover funeral expenses.
Our hope is that with this campaign we can relieve some of this worry for them as they spend the time they have focused on each other.
**Why We Need Your Help:**
Chuck's fight against cancer is not just a medical battle; it's a financial one too. The mounting medical bills, ongoing treatments, have placed an immense strain on Annie and Chuck. Chuck and Annie have always been willing to lend a hand.
We are reaching out to you, our community, friends, family, and compassionate strangers, to ask for your support. Your contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference. It can help cover the cost of medical bills, treatments, and alleviate the financial stress that weighs heavily on Chuck and Annie's shoulders.
**How You Can Help:**
1. **Donate:** Your financial contribution will go a long way in helping Annie and Chuck.
2. **Share:** Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. The power of spreading the word cannot be underestimated.
3. **Pray and Send Positive Vibes:** Your thoughts, prayers, and positive energy are invaluable to Chuck and our family. We believe in the strength of collective hope.
Chuck has always been the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Now, he is the one who needs our help, and we are humbly asking for your support, both financially and emotionally.
Thank you for taking the time to read Chuck's story and for considering a donation. Together, we can make a difference in his fight against cancer. We appreciate your love, support, and kindness during this challenging journey.
With gratitude and hope,
