In memory of Charles "Chuck" Goodwin

Hi- as many of you know we recently lost a great man. I lost my dad- others lost a brother, a colleague, a son, a partner, or a friend. We've heard many stories of lives he has touched through both his work as a California Highway Patrol Officer out of South Sacramento and later on with the US Marshall task force. We've also taken comfort in sharing stories with family and friends and knowing just how many lives he has impacted.

We are comforted in knowing that although his passing was unexpected, and way too early, that he died the happiest he could be and enjoying life to the fullest. He had retired after 30 years on the force a few years prior and moved out to South Dakota with his love and you could feel his joy with every post, picture, and conversation you had.

With the sudden passing we would like to ask for donations that will help go towards the upfront legal costs, fees, and for travel arrangements for his family. Anything that isn't used towards these costs we would be donating to the CHP 11-99 Foundation in his memory. This foundation provides emergency assistance to highway patrol officers and their families and provides scholarships to their children.

At this time, we are not planning a large memorial service, but we will keep everyone posted if plans change. Otherwise, enjoy the outdoors in his memory, have a drink, and hug your loved ones.
