Charles Gipe Cancer Fund
Donation protected
On November 1st, 2023, my father, Charles (Chuck) Gipe was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer that has spread into his liver. It is a very aggressive cancer and it is taking a lot out of him.
He is in a clinical trial and being given the maximum doses of chemo they can give him. He needs to get hormonal injections and take hormonal pills to help lower the testosterone in his postate. Testosterone in the prostate feeds the cancer, so he will have to receive the injections and pills for the rest of his life to try to keep the cancer from growing and spreading.
His first round of chemo was November 9th. He has had repeat CT scans for his chest, abdominal, and pelvis, a bone scan, liver biopsy, and a port placed for chemo treatments.
For anyone that knows my dad, he's a stubborn man. Even with everything going on, he's still trying to help others and do things on his own. He is strong willed, but the chemo is already taking so much out of him.
Seeing my dad this way is devastating. From him being this strong, hardworking, dependable rock, to him hardly able to eat or do the small things he used to easily be able to do is heartbreaking for not just his family but for him.
Everytime we go to see his oncologist, they ask this question, "What do you want most in life?"
His answer? "I want to live."
Seeing my dad cry while saying those words will forever stay with me.
He wants to live. We all want him to live. We're not ready to let him go.
He wants to see his grandkids grow up and graduate from school. To take them hunting and fishing. He's not ready to stop fighting, but thats where he needs our help.
Dad would do anything for anyone and this is where I ask if you are able, please help by donating.
100% of the donations go to help with any medical expenses, treatments, monthly bills and anything else that he might have to face.
Our family would like to thank you in advance for anything that is donated. Any help is greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: Dad has finished his chemo but has been having a lot of issues with fluid retention and fluid on his lungs. He has had many Er and hospital stays over the last few weeks.
He is on oxygen in the hospital right now and will most likely be on oxygen at home.
My parents heat their home with a woodstove and need to get a furnace so dad can go home and use his oxygen. Asking for donations to help cover costs for the furnace and hospital bills.
