Charles Goudie Memorial
Donation protected
Charles (Chas) Goudie.
Many of you who knew our beloved dad have kindly been asking about making a donation in his memory.
Dad was fiercely self sufficient and managed to live pretty independently almost to the end of his 94 years. He was our mothers full time carer until she passed away 4 years ago. It was after this that some individuals and organisations were there to make his remaining time easier.
Of these we have chosen three local charities who helped dad with companionship, trips out and "talking" newspapers, when his eyesight became too impaired to read for himself.
Our experience with Mum's donations was that most intermediates take quite a chunk of a commission. Therefore this time we have decided we would like as much as possible to go directly to the charities themselves. As these are smaller charities not only does every penny help but it means they don't have links for donations via gofunding that the larger charities do. We will be collecting funds at this central hub and will distribute it equally between them at the end of this month, March 2021.
NAB, Northamptonshire Association for the Blind, Northamptonshire’s local sight loss charity, provides advice, support and products to help visually impaired people live life to the full. They would invite Dad to join in monthly gathering of others with sight impairments for cake, tea and companionship.
WDTN, The Wellingborough and District Talking Newspaper
for the blind, provided dad with weekly audio versions of the local papers.
NVCA, Nene Valley Community Action (a division of Serve)
offers a wide range of services. support (infrastructure) services and community projects – It was through it's Carers support and Befriending project that Dad had regular companionship visits from 2017 until Covid lockdown.
Once the fundraiser ends I will publish the acknowledgement of receipt of the funds from the charities involved.
Much love and gratitude in advance from Carol and Colin.
