Charles Laurence McKay, affectionally known as “Larry” to his family and friends transitioned into eternal rest on October 11, 2022. He was pride and joy of the late Charles J. McKay and Ruth McKay Mayes (Tony), He grew up in Philadelphia, PA and attended Chestnut Hill Academy graduating with honors. Larry went on to further his education by working his way through Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1990. He continued to further his education at the following higher educational institutions - Brown University - Master of Sciences in Engineering in 1992. Harvard University - graduate degree in Finance and Legal Writing, Acting and Business Strategy in 1998. Boston University – Enterprise Java, J2EE in 2009.
Larry enjoyed music and sports radio and was quite accomplished as a DJ. In his high school years, he developed a great talent for DJingin the Philadelphia area under the name DJ Chameleon, and developed a lot of connections with contemporary and very well known hip hop artists. When pursuing undergraduate studies at MIT, he furthered his musical interest by running the very popular 'Dope Jams' hip-hop show on the MIT radio station WMBR. Furthermore, when he pursued his graduate studies at Brown University, he co-founded the very popular and the first of its kind hip-hop show (Rhythm and Rhyme) with Wendall Hanes on Brown University radio station WBRU. Larry's heavy interest in Music News Sports Radio, President of Snowboard Network and the On Air Talent Report led him to interview and personally know and become close to many top tier and top name celebrities in the hip hop music industry.
Larry's professional career includes President of Health One Fund, President of Glacier Concept LLC, manager of Financial Services Electronic Commerce, Consultant with Microsoft Corporation, Senior Associate Cambridge Technology Partners, and numerous other positions at companies like SAIC, Raytheon, Glacier Concepts and others.
He was proficient in Spanish and beginning to learn German. He published a book “Smart Real Estate Deals in the Bank Bailout Era and Beyond”. In his leisure Larry enjoyed playing polo, spending time on the water in his boat, skiing, he won numerous competitions in martial arts and providing entertainment as disc jockey (DJ).
Larry leaves to cherish his memories, his parents – Tony and Ruth McKay-Mays, two uncles – Marvin & Gloria Harrison, and Al & Minnie Harrison along with numerous cousins and friends.
