Lowcountry LOVE for the VIs

Our American neighbors in the US Virgin Islands (St. Thomas & St. John) were devastated by not one, but TWO historical Cat 5 hurricanes, Irma and Marie, this month. It has left thousands without homes, power, or communications. Literally, nothing. Rescue effort are underway by FEMA, US Coast Guard, Navy, and Red Cross (to name a few).
It is absolutely heart breaking at the loss that has occurred but Islanders are a resilient community. Rebuilding is an art form when you live on a rock. But, right now, residents are in shelters and may be there for months. Boats/marinas were destroyed and the airport has been compromised. And, unfortunately, the tourism business that keeps so many islanders afloat financially will be practically nonexistent this high season.
As such, we are we are organzing a local relief effort here in Charleston to collect goods and supplies for our US neighbors who were effected by Irma.
How can you help?
Our goal is to raise over $15k in supplies and goods and ship it to the islands in the next few weeks. We are coordinating efforts with those on the ground to make sure that 100% of the money (minus admin fees) we raise goes directly to purchasing, shipping and distributing supplies from the Lowcountry to the VIs. If you don't want to contribute financially, we are also coordinating collection stations in and around Charleston where you can drop off requested supplies.
While our address may now say Charleston, we are former islanders ourselves and want to do whatever we can to help those still there and affected by these catastrophic storms. If you would like to join in our collection efforts, feel free to send a message to one of us and we will get back to you shortly.
Thanks!
