Charlie's fight with Leukaemia

Donation protected

Hi I'm Sharnah, I'm good friends with Ashley and Salise. As you've heard, their 10mth old son Charlie has just been diagnosed with Leukaemia. For everyone that knows Charlie would know that nothing seams to phase him, his always happy and can be very cheeky. He will always give you a smile just for looking at him. He absolutley dotes over his 2 older brothers, Xavier (8) and Brodie (5). No one can make Charlie smile more than them.

Having this diagnosis has now meant that Salise can't return to work as she had planned to and with still having 2 older boys at home that has meant there is going to be a bit of financial strain with the added trips to and fro the city, the car parking in the city and food which is not supplied for the parents. Once Ash returns to work there will also be the added costs of after/before school care for Brodie and Xavier. All while they are trying to keep Xavier and Brodie's lives as normal as they can.

So if you can help in anyway, I know it will be greatly appreciated.

Here is what little Charlie has been through in the last few days:

"On Sunday (25th April) I took Charlie to my doctor thinking that he had an ear infection or something of the like but things turned very quickly when I was given a referral to attend ED at Lyell McEwin immediately. We were at that hospital for 5 hours where they took bloods and monitored Charlie because they were initially concerned as they found he was anemic. Again we were given another referral to immediately attend the WCH in Adelaide with an overnight bag.

After a long day of tests and x-rays I was visited by the Head of Oncology very late at night who gave me two possibilities to what Charlie's condition could be. By the next morning Ashley had joined me at the hospital and we were informed that Charlie had Leukemia.

Charlie has had surgery just yesterday (Wednesday 28th) to successfully have a central line inserted, a few other things done at the same time and be given a dose of Chemotherapy. Charlie is currently on Day 2 of his treatment which is steroids twice daily"
