Charlie Rose Medical Bills

***Update 10/5***
The mass removed from Charlie has returned from testing, and it was determined that she had contracted a rare fungus known as Pythiosis. Unfortunately, this fungus can live and cause problems in dogs long before it is detected. The doctors have stated that Pythiosis is rare; however, after learning more about it, it isn't as rare as everyone says it is. We have learned that Pythiosis can be detected by a simple blood test. Although Charlie Rose never showed any symptoms until it was too late. There are treatments for Pythiosis that could possibly save your beloved pet's life if caught in time. The prevention is having a routine blood test done. The blood test cost $75.00. My mother is learning more about Pythiosis and finding out more ways to raise awareness about Pythiosis.
***Update 9/26***
Charlie Rose passed away on Saturday night, after undergoing surgery to remove the affected organs. Unfortunately, she was septic, her stomach began to retain fluid and her fever rose again. We are still accepting donations because at this time we have spent almost $9,000 on her care in the last week.
We are heartbroken at this sudden and tragic loss to our family and thank you for your continued support.

On the eve of her second birthday, Charlie rose went into septic shock and had to be admitted for emergency surgery after her stomach lining burst. The doctors gave her a 50/50 chance of survival.
Sunday evening, charlie began acting lethargic and strange, unable to use the bathroom my mom took her to the vet first thing Monday morning where she was unknowingly misdiagnosed with gastroenteritis. She was sent home with antibiotics and told to come back if there was no improvement, charlie got slightly better on Tuesday but by Wednesday night she was sick again. On Thursday she went back to the vet who said she needed to be seen by a specialist immediately. The first ER made them wait 3 hours without being seen, so my mom took her to a different one where she was finally given the immediate care she needed. She was told that Charlie's intestines had locked up and began to turn in on each other, causing toxins to build up in her stomach lining they were unsure of the cause.
Charlie made it through her surgery and due to the sepsis is now in critical condition and will be in the hospital being monitored for the next 3-5 days.
If you know my mom Johnnie, you know that this dog is her life. She quite literally never stops talking about her charlie rose. She is a pillar of the dog rescue and fostering community in Cumming, and she has two other fur babies at home counting on her and waiting for their sister to get back home. Unexpected vet bills are never fun, and this week alone she's racked up almost 6,000 in debt just trying to get charlie the life-saving care she needed.
